New Year: New Pitch Thinking?

For me January is a perfect moment to reflect on what I did really well last year pitchabilty wise and what I need to radically improve on in 2013 to stay in shape and improve too, of course. The Roman deity Janus gave his name to this first month of the year. His two faces-one looking back, one forward- inspires us to think about what to take into 2013 and what to leave behind. Here I share with you a simple but powerful reflective process I use to: keep me on my pitching toes; refresh my own pitch mindset; and to make sure my groove in 2013 is a winning one. Before the deed the thought. See what I mean? PowerPoint as a persuasion tool on a pitch

Pitching is process that ends with a choice, with a decision made at an emotional, subconscious level. You ask us to imagine what it will be like working with you. How you share your story is as important as the story itself. Content for me will always be king and being creative and focused about this is a key part of what sets you and your brand apart.

This post sets out my current thinking on the place PowerPoint, Keynote and Prezi should play on a pitch. Beware though of the amateur approach to visuals for we are the most sophisticated comsumers of visual media in human history. Our "So what?" thresholds are very low. Bring us death by PowerPoint and you will kill your pitch even if your solution is the best on offer.
